Fenway Park has numerous quirky features — loved by most BoSox fans and hated by many opposing players. The field is dominated by the "Green Monster," the 37 foot high wall in left field. Undeniably one of the world's best known sports venues, Fenway has been modified numerous times and even slated for demolition, but remains an iconic park.
The stadium has witnessed dozens of famous of baseball moments, including Carlton Fisk's iconic 1975 World Series home run.
Curious fact: the right field foul pole is called "The Pesky Pole," presumably because of the frequency with which Sox star Johnny Pesky hit homers that wrapped around the very close (a mere 302 feet from home plate) pole. Pesky, however, hit only 17 home runs in his entire career, and only 6 of those came at Fenway.
